Currency: The currency in Romania is RON (Romanian leu). Always exchange currency either at a bank or an exchange point. There are plenty of ATMs where you can withdraw cash in the local currency and most places hold a POS so you should be fine paying with your card.
Unique emergency number: 112 is the emergency number if you want to contact an ambulance, the police or the fire department.

Mobility: Public transportation in Cluj-Napoca and the metropolitan area consists of buses, tramways and trolleys and a single fare costs 2,5 lei (0,44E). Tickets can be bought via SMS and from the stations. Check www.ctp.ro or download Tranzy app in order to see routes and other information.
The taxi network is trustworthy and the base price is 2,25 lei/km (0,5E). Before using a taxi, take a look at the identification plate of the car and of the driver! Always ask the driver to turn on the meter! If a problem occurs, immediately call 112 or look for a local police agent.

Safety: Although Cluj-Napoca is one of the safest cities in Europe, always expect the unexpected. Leave your passports and other valuables in a safe place. Beware of bag and mobile phone snatchers. Don’t leave your passport/ valuables in your car if you are driving. Ensure you know whom to contact in order to obtain emergency credit cards and replacement checks if they are stolen. Report the loss of valuables to the local police.
